Selena Gomez is fighting to have her name removed from a lawsuit accusing her and the founders of Wondermind of misleading investors about the mental health startup.

On August 26, 2026, the singer and actress’s legal team filed a motion to dismiss the claims against her. Her attorney, Mathew S. Rosengart, called the accusations “completely meritless if not frivolous.”

The dispute involves two investment groups that say they put nearly $1.2 million into Wondermind. Their federal lawsuit in Delaware names Gomez, her mother, Mandy Teefey, former business partner Daniella Pierson, and the company.

According to the investors, they were persuaded to invest based on promises about Wondermind’s leadership, business partnerships, and future growth. They also say they expected Gomez to play an active role in building and promoting the brand.

The complaint alleges that promised projects, including a mobile app, never materialized and that investors were not properly informed about the company’s financial and operational problems.

Gomez’s lawyers describe her responsibilities differently. They say she invested in Wondermind and held a minority stake, but never managed the company. According to her defense, Teefey and Pierson handled management, while Gomez served as a consultant with the title of Chief Impact Officer.

Her legal team argues that the investors’ allegations do not establish that she committed fraud. Pierson has also denied the accusations against her.

Wondermind launched its public platform in 2022, promoting the idea that caring for mental health should be part of everyday life. By 2025, reporting about missed employee payments and layoffs had raised questions about the business.

The legal battle centers on what investors were promised, what company leaders disclosed, and Gomez’s actual responsibilities. The accusations remain disputed, and her request for dismissal is not itself a court ruling resolving them.
