Diddy’s Projected Prison Release Date Moves Up Again

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ projected release date from federal prison has been moved up again. According to Federal Bureau of Prisons records reviewed by PEOPLE, his latest anticipated release date is February 5, 2028.

The 56-year-old music mogul is currently serving a 50-month federal prison sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey.

Diddy’s New Projected Release Date Is February 5, 2028

Combs had previously been expected to leave federal custody on February 20, 2028. His latest projected date moves his anticipated release forward by approximately two weeks.

It is another change in a prison timeline that has been adjusted several times since Combs was sentenced.

The February 5 date should still be considered projected rather than guaranteed. The Federal Bureau of Prisons explains that release dates shown in its inmate records are based on sentence calculations and may change as an inmate’s case and applicable credits are reviewed.

The Washington Post also reported in early September that Combs’ projected release date had been moved to February 5, 2028.

Why Is Diddy in Federal Prison?

Combs was arrested in New York in September 2024 before facing a highly publicized federal trial in Manhattan.

A jury found him guilty on two counts related to transporting individuals for prostitution. He was acquitted of the more serious racketeering conspiracy and sex-trafficking charges brought against him.

Combs was later sentenced to 50 months in federal prison in October 2025.

Because he had already spent more than a year in federal custody before sentencing, that time was taken into account when calculating the remainder of his prison term.

Why Has His Release Date Changed?

The Bureau of Prisons has not publicly provided a specific explanation for every adjustment to Combs’ projected release date.

Federal prison release calculations can be affected by several factors, including time already served, eligible sentence credits and participation in certain qualifying programs.

Combs has reportedly taken part in rehabilitation programming while incarcerated. However, there is currently no official confirmation that any single prison program was responsible for moving his latest release date forward.

For that reason, claims that Combs received an earlier release date specifically because of “good behavior” or rehabilitation should be treated cautiously unless federal authorities confirm the reason.

Combs Is Serving His Sentence at FCI Fort Dix

Combs is currently incarcerated at Federal Correctional Institution Fort Dix, a federal prison in New Jersey.

His life behind bars has continued to draw attention following one of the most closely watched celebrity trials in recent years.

At the same time, his legal team has continued challenging the outcome of the case, meaning the legal proceedings surrounding Combs have not necessarily ended simply because he is serving his sentence.

The February 2028 Date Could Still Change

For now, February 5, 2028 remains Sean “Diddy” Combs’ latest projected federal prison release date.

However, because his anticipated release date has already changed several times, another adjustment remains possible before 2028.

Unless a court ruling, appeal or new Bureau of Prisons calculation changes his custody status, Combs is currently expected to remain in federal custody until early February 2028.
