Emil had already endured brain surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation when a second cancer diagnosis brought him back into treatment. His response was strikingly simple: “At least I had a 5-year break!”
Behind those words is a young person who has faced frightening experiences and still has plans for his future.
The Symptoms That Led to His First Diagnosis
Emil was almost nine when he developed double vision, daily headaches, and difficulty concentrating. An eye examination led to hospital care, where an MRI revealed a brain tumor.
He underwent two operations before receiving radiation therapy and chemotherapy in Birmingham, England. For two months, treatment meant daily trips to the hospital.
At 11, Emil needed another operation to remove a cyst. Regular MRI scans followed, bringing repeated waits for results.

A Second Diagnosis Brings New Challenges
Around his birthday in September 2025, Emil began needing to urinate frequently. His symptoms worsened, and further testing revealed two large masses near his pelvis.
Emil says his family was told that the second cancer was linked to his earlier treatment. Chemotherapy was used to shrink the masses, followed by specialized radiation therapy.
In his March 2026 update, Emil reported encouraging progress: a scan showed the cancer had shrunk to approximately 2 by 2 centimeters. He was nearing the end of radiation treatment and had been without a catheter for two months.
Family, Friends, and a Future Beyond Treatment
Throughout his care, Emil’s mother stayed with him while his father managed responsibilities at home, including caring for his siblings and running the family bakery.
That bakery is part of Emil’s own plans. He hopes to work alongside his father and continue a family tradition that began in Poland.
While studying from home, he has focused on subjects including food technology and information technology. Friends have also stayed involved, visiting, bringing treats, and playing video games with him. He enjoys photography and would like to learn to DJ.
Keeping His Plans in Sight
Emil’s treatment journey has been difficult, but his account leaves room for friendship, creativity, and ambition. Alongside the hope that treatment will work, he continues imagining the life he wants to build.
