Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman Reunite in “Practical Magic 2”

Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are returning as the Owens sisters in “Practical Magic 2,” nearly 30 years after the original film became a cult favorite.

The sequel is scheduled to open in theaters on September 11, 2026, with Bullock back as Sally Owens and Kidman returning as Gillian Owens.

A recent Vogue conversation brought the two stars together again as they reflected on their careers, memorable roles and the chemistry that made their first film so beloved.

The Owens Sisters Are Back

The original “Practical Magic,” released in 1998, followed two sisters from a family of witches whose lives were shaped by love, loss and a supernatural family curse.

Over the years, the movie developed a strong fan following, making the return of Bullock and Kidman one of the sequel’s biggest attractions.

The new film will also bring back Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest, while Joey King and Maisie Williams join the cast as part of a younger generation.

Nostalgia Is a Major Part of the Sequel’s Appeal

Much of the excitement around “Practical Magic 2” comes from seeing the original stars return to a story audiences have revisited for decades.

The first film became especially popular for its mix of romance, sisterhood, comedy and witchcraft.

The sequel now has the opportunity to revisit that familiar world while expanding the Owens family story for a new generation.

“Practical Magic 2” Arrives September 11

“Practical Magic 2” is set to hit theaters on September 11, 2026.

With Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman back together, the sequel is leaning heavily into the nostalgia and sisterly chemistry that helped make the original such a lasting fan favorite.
